Has Tea Stained Your Teeth?

Tea drinking It’s a well known fact that drinks and certain foodstuffs can cause stains to appear on our teeth, the main culprits are well known to be red wine, and coffee, regretfully, but I did not realise that my beloved early morning cup of tea can be just as bad for my teeth.

Drinking Tea Is One Of The Worst Culprits

Apparently drinking tea regularly causes stains on our teeth because of an acid that that occurs in its generic make up. This acid is called Tannin or tannic acid. As we drink tea, this acid breaks down and forms small openings in the enamel on the teeth. These small holes allow the strong pigment of the tea to soak into the teeth and can develop strong dark stains in the enamel and I have certainly seen that this is the case with me:(

I certainly wasn’t prepared to give up my tea as I love it too much and the Tava Tea had also brought me such great results so I looked around to see how I could combat the staining that drinking tea can cause. There was plenty advice online about how to avoid the staining such as using a straw to drink my tea, no thanks I’m 36 not 6 or drinking cold tea. YUK or brushing with baking soda! I then started brushing my teeth before and after drinking a cup but to be honest brushing my teeth 10 times a day isn’t really an option.

I decided to actually go and ask the advice of someone who would know, my Dentist. He said that the best way to get rid of the stains caused by my tea drinking would be to undergo a teeth whitening course. I said great lets do it until he told me that it would cost £400. I nearly fell off my seat. I told him that I would think about it and let him know.

I went straight home and online and found Dr Georges Dental White, sold exclusively on-line by Smile 4 You. It had loads of info on there and some customer video testimonials that really gave me alot of confidence, I also found a number of other independent websites that gave the kit a big thumbs up. I decided to call rather than place an order online as I wanted to be sure that they were a real company and was pleased that the call was answered quickly.

I asked a number of questions like how white will my teeth get and how quickly, all of which were answered politely, the rep reccommended a single kit and a blue light for me, as I have sensitive teeth it means I don’t have to wear the mouth trays for that long. I also purchased a bottle of top of gel as the guy explained that if I mixed the gel with my toothpaste every other night I would never ever have stained teeth again.

It’s been 2 weeks now and I must admit that the results have far exceeded my expectations, my teeth are so much whiter, I am using the gel regularly with my own toothpaste too. Between Tava Tea & Smile 4 You’s Dental White I have never ever felt so good about the way I look.
